New Guy, New Look: Kristen Stewart

The Robsten rumours are just about reaching fever pitch so what better time than the 2009 MTV Awards to show off a softer, romantic look? That's what I would do if my guy was still on the fence.

This is possibly the most stylish I've ever seen her! Her usual MTV garb is so mallrat dressdown, but this latest incarnation is giving me flashes of an early Winona Ryder. Then again, you can't go wrong when clothed in Valentino, and sporting Rock & Republic studded pumps (still available for US$295 in Kristen's Grey, or Fuschia).

Sanity Behind the Insanity

I should probably explain why I absolutely needed to embark on a 6 month bag & shoe hiatus. Bottom line: I've reorganized my wardrobe (read: MAJOR STOCKTAKE) and have far too many (a) shoes and (b) black dresses.

I've thrown in the bag ban as more of a preventive measure. While the odd leather bucket bag from Topshop isn't going to bust the budget, designer bags (even on sale) are too expensive a replacement-indulgence for my two primary weaknesses. That and I'm flat out refraining from "devaluing" my beloved Mulberry A4 Roxy by buying another investment bag within 6 months of it ;)

My final major indulgence for the year (which really ought to take me right up the Chinese New Year next February) will be debuted soon. Here's a hint: It's off my Lust List!

A Division of Opinion: Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson seems a tad more bearable when she's not looking like a 35-year old sexpot. I might be partial toward the harmless polka dots and ballerina flats, but I'm still not leaving my guy alone with her...

I could not love this look more - completely work appropriate, but with a touch of fun!  The lovely folks at MTV have credited that brilliant (read: soon to be mine) Chanel-esque cardigan as borne of London duo PPQ.  

Don't even get me started on her Marni mary-janes which are giving me heartache as galpal F scored the similarly styled YSL Tribute heels in Hong Kong.  I was *this* close to mugging a friend.

Planning Ahead: Jil Sander for Uniqlo

I just circled '2 October' on my calender with big red marker. I'm a sucker for well-made, affordable pieces that I can wear until I'm 60, so I'll definitely be making a bee-line for Uniqlo's ION Orchard branch to grab one of Jil Sander's +J offerings.

Wondering if I should just hedge my bets and order online through their UK site the day before. If anything sells out at ION and I have to go all the way to their Tampines branch instead, it might be too much for me to bear!
