Lust List (Halfway through 2009)

I'm trying to cut back on the fast fashion so I can finally show some love for the designers on my lust list (what isn't helping is Alexa Chung strolling the streets of NYC in the Barbera Hulanicki for Topshop dress I wilfully passed on as part of this new shopping resolution) :

1. Something from Camilla Skovgaard - am partial towards her new styles with "teeth"

2. Something from Vice & Vanity - Ever since I realised their workshop is just round the corner, I've been gathering girlfriends for a V&V shopping excursion later this month.

3. Totally out of my budget (and a bit "been there, have that" for most bagaholics) is the Balenciaga First in Noir. Also, the Purse Forum is also an evil EVIL place - but there are genuine Balenciaga deals abound. Even at a discount, this is a hefty purchase and at that price the City seems a more worthwhile investment? SIGH

For now (and until my poor bank balance looks a tad healthier), let's just relish Kate rocking the First:

Auf Wiedersehen Germany, Hello Singapore!

When I attended alldressedup's SS09 fashion show a couple of months back, I had no clue that Germany's Next Top Model were busy filming clips of their final 3. Singapore was the exotic foreign stop and venue for the walk-off in Episode 15, which precedes the Finale.

Am really elated for the talented Sven Tan and his team of designers. What a great platform for their gorgeous line! Plus, is that a Vice & Vanity necklace I spy in the final photoshoot? YAY local talent!!

More images of the finalists in Singapore and their photoshoot at Haw Par Villa (I think!):

Score!!

Who would've thought it'd take a CNY trip back to Malacca, Malaysia, to score a perfect budget-friendly (not trashy) neon piece? I'd been looking for a frugal way to buy into this potentially short-lived trend.

These neon yellow sandals by Vincci (a Malaysian shoe company) set me back a paltry RM39 (about S$16/US$11)!

I've decided these babies (and their lovely paint flecked cork soles) needed to be debuted this weekend - which is just as well 'cos with the weather lately being all weird and suddenly overcast, I've resolved to leave my grey leather Rupert Sanderson sandals at home!! (That said, the Ruperts are the most comfy pair of sandals I've worn in my life... Birkenstocks have nothing on them!)

Channeling Mary-Kate in a silk maxi dress from French Connection, Vice&Vanity necklace, said newly acquired sandals. Massive sunnies not pictured :)

If you happen to feel like splashing out on DESIGNER neon sandals, Manolo and D&G have ones here and here going for US$595 and US$119, respectively.

Yellow Fever

Yellow is a pretty hard colour to wear for anyone with oriental looks. Our bum luck that Pantone's pick for THE colour of 2009 is Mimosa - a sunshiny marigold yellow!

For a quick buy, Gap and Pantone have set up a concept store in NYC which sells, amongst other Pantone-exact colours, a Mimosa basic t-shirt :)

For some inspiration, Giovanna Battaglia, fashion editor at L'Uomo Vogue, was spotted by The Sartorialist in Paris with yellow slacks. I'm quite taken with her pairing of a nuetral grey top to tone down the yellow:

Whilst I scout for some yellow to properly kick-off the year with, this was my first attempt at wearing yellow after a long hiatus:
Top: Vintage from Granny's Day Out, Skirt: Playhound, Shoes: Georgina Goodman, Necklace: Vice&Vanity

Am off to dig out my marigold H&M dress from the back of my closet. In the meanwhile, let's all drool a bit over alldressedup's yellow smocked blouse (yay for quality local design!).
