May Day Shopping Dreams

Guess where I'll be headed this weekend :) Rockstar by Soon Lee, Club21, Zouk Flea & Easy (Fashion Elite edition)... so many promotions, so little time, so much restraint to be exercised.

The Devil is in the Details: E&J 'James' Blazer

Taupe? Off-White? White? I'm faced with a decision that doesn't often come round. Then, I made the mistake of trying on the increasingly worshipped Elizabeth & James James blazer at a local boutique. Big Mistake. Big. HUGE.
Those insider reviews of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's line are true: the 'James' really is the perfect combination of a boxy boyfriend cut, and softened details to subtly sculpt it to the female form. My new obsession proceeded to spiral into over an hour of trawling the internet looking for a more reasonably-priced source; I certainly wasn't about to pay 20% over the US retail price (at that's with a 15% credit card discount!).
I realise that it's always wise to get any sort of blazer in classic black, but then I already have 2 well-worn black blazers. Surely a neutral-coloured blazer that fits well at the shoulders, falls beautifully and doesn't make me look like I'm auditioning for a Miami Vice remake is worth investing in? *fret*

The Way We Were

(pc: Elle Germany 2010)
Some pairings are just SO sartorially right. I'm talking about Sienna Miller & Jude Law; though the Sienna/Marchesa duo is admittedly pretty awesome too...

Gwyneth 1: Scarlett 0

Call it designer bias, but Gwyneth Paltrow's pairing of Victoria Beckham with a stunningly covetable pair of Georgina Goodman sandals (LOVE, literally) completely trumps Ms. Johansson's somnolent Roland Mouret/Christian Louboutin combination. Let the co-star red carpet wars begin!
I've personally found the last handful of collections from this Brit talent a tad too loud (I say this having one of her pairs with yellow/black satin fins). However, my interest is piqued anew with the black/nude colourway lending a punchy "made-you-look" wink whilst still being Upper East Side worthy. Snap up the same pair at Goodman's online store for GBP600 before your size (or resolve) disappears?

A Second Look: Sofia Coppola x LV

Behold the Alexa Chung effect (well, on me at least...)! I was ambivalent about Sofia Coppola's tiptoe into the fashion realm when these Louis Vuitton bags first launched. Now I find myself ranking these higher up on the desirability index than Kate Moss' lacklustre Longchamp offerings. I'm far from regretting my pourpre Balenciaga; I'm just wishing it held a little more.

Happy Birthday To Me

I can think of nothing better than a birthday weekend consisting of quality time with friends, not a few "lie-in"s, time with precious little ones then a celebratory shopping trip. Spirits: 1, Wallet: 0 - reveals to come!

Lust *caution* I have suffered a relapse with my addiction to the SS2010 collection from 3.1 Phillip Lim, but I'm going to try real. hard. to hold out for The Outnet's Anniversary Sale tomorrow. In case you've been living under a rock, how's "One Person, One Item, One Pound" sound for a GOOD Friday? Wishing I had an iPhone, it'd keep me from resorting to thinly veiled attempts to work, eat and hang around my computer tomorrow...

Thinking Ahead: A Just Reward

I'm penning this down for posterity: Not that I would need to... Goodness knows by the time I actually have to start thinking about getting married, I'd surely not have forgotten about Bittersweets New York's absolutely darling LetterRings.

These personalised keepsakes are a culmination of my two favourite forms of detailings: letterpress and matte finishing. I challenge any galpal not to swoon at the prospect of receiving one of these as a 'thank you' gift. Available in white, yellow or rose gold. I say Let the bridesmaid wars begin!

Happy Is As Happy Shops

Not even work weariness can keep my mind from wandering off about my upcoming birthday; it's a dizzying wonderland complete with stainless steel handles on worked leather, poached eggs, everyday chloe, an awesome casual timepiece and kitty-cute miu miu. A girl can dream can't she? :)

New Moon Rising

I am speechless. (c/o the sublime 13bees)

Well, I can just about manage to channel Rachel Zoe amidst all my hyperventilation: "OMG. I die. This is bananas. This dress needs a moment. Carey Mulligan? She would shut it down. Seriously. This is killing it on a whole new level."

Careyed Away

Let's pause for a moment in admiration and reverence of the absolute divinity that is Carey Mulligan.

A Good Friday

Things that made me happy this long weekend: (i) spending a $40-voucher on Burt's Bees goodies, (ii) inspiring books printed on soft, textured paper, (iii) dark DARK chocolate, (iv) witnessing stunning visuals and a deep soul in A Single Man, and (v) discovering a charming collection of jewellery from local lable By Invite Only -which is on 40% off at Asylum's closing sale.
