Flash Sideways: Kate Moss for Longchamp

At first I was pleasantly surprised when chancing upon the Kate Moss for Longchamp range being discounted by 30% (with an extra 10% until Sunday if you're a Takashimaya member). That's S$2179 down to S$1525 for her Gloucester bag. Granted the collection was pretty basis but it seemed a decent discount on its own.

But the prices are hardly enticing if you realise the same bag has retailed for less from the moment it launched February 2010: US$990 (S$1392). Way to realign markups...

TGI-Thursday: Breton Everything

If life were perfect, I'd have this Acne dress to wear for the weekend (and an extra 5 inches of natural height for life). But it isn't... so I'll probably content myself with this (and a tan)

On the upside, it's Vesak Day tomorrow - a much-needed reprieve from the office scrum. I'm all limbered up and ready to hunt for a bargain during the first weekend of the Great Singapore Sale! {gather}

Right Said: Fred Perry 'Pop Up' Sale

I'm so grateful for friends who rally you off to a FRED PERRY 'pop up' sale during a lunchtime! And so it was 50% off for the boys and 70% off for the girls last Friday, with an irresistible extra 10% off for UOB credit cardmembers *yum*

I'm not one to be often found in polo tees but at the deep discounts offered, I mined my soul for some sportswear roots and scored a black polo, and knitted dress. My star buy (which neither fit me, nor would have my fella) was this perfect camel argyle sweater in the softest Made in Italy lambswool. Hope you found a good home!!

Costello Tagliapietra x UNIQLO: Love the Store, Hate the Policy

Minimalist, work-appropriate, draped frocks in jersey for SGD49.99? Yes please! So it was an absolutely joy swooping up two buys from the Costello Tagliapietra's capsule collection for UNIQLO.

Granted, 313 Somerset's store only had TWO styles from the 14-piece range. And the smallest size available for the sleeveless dress was a 'M'. But the colours were versatile, the cut was flattering and the material was weekend-on-a-weekday comfortable. Out my wallet came :)

However, there was one rather significant smear (in my mind, at least) on the sparkling Japanese windows of the UNIQLO retail skyscraper: plastered all over the fitting room doors were notices urging customers to return all their tried clothing to the SHOP FLOOR. ON THEIR OWN!

That's right, the end of UNIQLO's customer service excellence is nigh. Lest you think that these were empty threats, the sales staff swiftly refused to even take hold of any of my "rejected" fittings. I was incredulous - even Topshop Oxford Circus in Christmas Eve would never have suggested such an action. Is this unique to the Singapore stores? Has UNIQLO Singapore grown too big for its breeches?

I'm curious to find out how long the signs would remain. Shoppers of Singapore: Please feel free to take aim!

Roadtrip!

I'm off to attend a charming wedding in Malacca. Whilst attempting to pack 3 complete, suitably celebratory outfits, I came to the realization that I actually had a gap in my wardrobe!

So intent on purchasing practical, reasonably-sized bags was I that I have a grand total of ONE evening clutch: vintage, black, can't hold more than a credit card. Assorted fun, large clutches (such was/is the trend) really do not a formal dinner purse make.

One excellent reason to hit the shops at the end of season sales! *grin* (pc:tfs)

Her Many Bags: Kylie + YSL

I'm going to go out on a limb and call YSL as Kylie Minogue's favourite bag label :)
Incidentally, am LOVING the Camilla Skovgaard heels on her in the pic below:

A Welcome Weekend: In the Botanics with YTL

After a seemingly endless week at work, I found respite in The Botanic Gardens yesterday - thanks to YTL, some *fine* ribeye from Swiss Butchery and Andrea Bocelli's stirring voice.

Sartorially, the massive afternoon downpour steered me toward trusty (and rain proof) Haviannas and Marni bangles, a new mixed-metal necklace from DAVE at Nicholas (love the two-tone chain!) and silk top from Fly Now (available at Front Row). I promise the gingham double-whammy was unintentional...

Audi Fashion Festival: alldressedup FW2010

After a psychedelic Spring/Summer which shouted Pop Art prints and celebrated all that was plastic (sometimes) fantastic, I found the Fall/Winter 2010 offerings from local label alldressedup decidedly more grown-up.

It was timely coming of age for this local brand. The design team, headed by Sven Tan, were no doubt empowered by their collaboration with French fur house, Jean Terzakou, and confidently put ruffled leather jackets, fur gilets and *gasp* more than just the token fur coat down the runway! In a climate where not a few local designers are opting to strip down to basic Alexander Wang jersey, alldressedup eponymously seem to have taken their look to the Upper East Side and, in the process, intentionally globalised the brand.

Rather than coo over the 'who-wore-whats', it was all about the clothes and accessories for me. My personal favourites came from their capsule Madagascar striped story, which I found elegant and whimsical in equal parts. The label's commonly styled colours very successfully, but often not within the same piece. In these modern zebra prints, Lily van de Woodsen, or Serena & Blair for that matter, would not be out of place in their urban jungle.

I cannot wait to devour all the leather accessories up close! Especially the elephant/leopard tribal motif leather totes with mesh cord shoulder straps. In short, my countdown to Fall/Winter has officially begun :)

Countdown to the Weekend!

The perfect summer hat from Anthropologie.
