Today I Eat, Tomorrow I Shop: Weekend Sales

Club 21's May Madness is back from 29 April to 2 May for Club 21 cardmembers - but this time it's 10% off any 2 items, and 15% off for 3 or more items.

Unfortunately, a big fat sticker on the reverse of the pre-printed postcard clarifies that the promotion is not valid for Comme des Garcons Pocket, on CDG Play or Black products, or Balenciaga bags and small leather goods. Right - so that basically scrapped most of the shopping list which ran through my head when I first sighted the card.

I might still pop by Tsumori Chisato (cute little scarf, you are mine!) especially since the Inhabit Bazaar Sale is happening in town too - Alexander Wang and Phillip Lim at up to 90% off may be too good a bargain to pass on.

And to top it off, The Link is offering 30-50% off selected items at Bagbar, The Paragon. I scored a gorgeous leather cuff there during their last clearance sale, so I'm hoping the trip into town will be fruitful.

Matchy Smatchy: Tsumori Chisato for Baby!

Ok so I might have gone temporarily mad over Tsumori Chisato but how positively precious is this baby set from the Petit Bateau collaboration? At USD69 (and just over 50% off!) for a onesie, bib and toy, this would be a perfect baby shower gift for any fashion-devotee looking to impart unmatched Japanese cool/French flair to their newborn.

Who says you can't be born this way?  Available in pink/blue online at Shop Bird.

How to Party: Tsumori Chisato & Club 21b Launch

Either the universe is telling me I do shop too much or I just lucked out in being invited to Club 21's joint launch party last Friday for their Tsumori Chisato and Club 21b boutiques.

The evening honoured Chisato with a capsule 20-year retrospective on her career.  It was a joyous rainbow of intricate knits, embroidered silks and clashing prints that delighted and worked the way only the Japanese could.  I only wish they'd curated the exhibition with descriptions of the year/collection each piece was selected from so that visitors could appreciate the development of her design.

And so champagne flowed, the good looking preened, models strutted, Chisanto photo-called and I cooed and coveted an indulgent S$40 cotton hankerchief speckled with Chisato's trademark feline motifs.  Large enough to use as a necklace/scarf (think Muji's Tokyo/Paris/London range of map hankies), it would have been an affordable and extremely chic memento for the evening!  Too bad it was Lent or I'd definitely have put my 20% discount that night to good use...

Speaking of honouring the designer - I decided to debut one of my precious Tsumori Chisato x Petit Bateau tees, paired with Comme des Garcon long shorts (which The Man adorably calls my 'police constable shorts') and my appropriately feline patent Rupert Sanderson wedges.  Would it be narcissistic to proclaim I love my outfit?  But I so DO, and can't wait to wear the combination again... Maybe this Friday, would that be too soon? ;)

Go, Sure Buy: Blackjack Bazaar

{pc: herworld}
It's been 15 years and many a wistful/fruitful shopping trip - at least the curtain is coming down in style from 7-9 January 2011 for Club21's Blackjack boutique.  I'm now wrestling with my shopping conscience - the prospects of McQ by Alexander McQueen, Helmut Lang, Tsumori Chisato, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair and Twenty8Twelve at up to 80% off may be too much for my TGIF-soul to bear!

Cheap(ish) Thrill: Tsumori Chisanto pour Petit Bateau

Bonjour! When I sighted the whimsical, très chic “marinière” top from French label Petit Bateau's collaboration with Japanese designer Tsumori Chisanto, I yelped and promptly made a beeline for their nearest boutique in London. I was such an early bird that they hadn't even had a chance to place pieces from the 13-piece collection onto the shopfloor... which perplexed me somewhat because the TC website listed the collaraboration being available since mid-October. Ergh, Japan always get stuff first...
Blagging my way into a "sneak peak" was worth it. How adorable are these two styles? The femme version is a heart and star thin cotton jersey top - perfect for even sunny Singapore; the homme version with the shooting star is of a slightly thicker weave and would probably work better as a cotton jumper. In a bit of non-buyer's regret, I feel like I should have also picked up the bag (how CDG is that?) and the scarf... but then, there's always Paris :)
