Mother/Daughter Tag Team Shopping

How far in advance do you start shopping for an occasion? My mum and I certainly did some longterm retail planning when we chrisened the brand new DVF boutique at ION Orchard (hereafter known as 'The Black Hole Where Money Disappears').

What can I say: there was a sale (40-50% off SS09)... there were bulk discounts... and there's a dearth in our closets for fresh frocks for Chinese New Year/weddings/work in general. I'm completely in love with our loot of two DVF Vintage silk jersey wrap dresses - one long, one short sleeved - plus an gorgeous washed silk tunic dress. The best bit? Mum and I share sizes so it's treble the clothes for me! YAY
For those naysayers who think Ms Furstenberg's wrap dresses are overpriced, the devil really is in the details: the cut is unbelievably flattering (can you say sudden curves?), the prints are timeless and, if you're one to be concerned about these things, they will certainly photograph beautifully.
That said, we noticed the DVF silk jersey dresses which are made in China - clearly marked on the main label - seemed ever so sightly thinner in contrast to the ones made in USA (which don't have any origin printed on the label, above). The Stateside pieces had seemingly sturdier and thicker silk jersey, which whispered greater durability.

Don't want to sound like an 'atas' snob but I'm definitely keeping this QC note in mind for the future. Needless to say, all our scores were strictly born in the USA ;)
