A Grim Reality: Rachel Zoe's Studio

This is more or less how my home would look like if I were left to my own devices. Yes, I'd be living in my closet *shudder*

Pulling My Ears: MK & Ashley Olsen

Are rabbit ears the new bow headbands? They seem to be popping up everywhere! Pun aside, these Maison Michel FW09 ones, seen on MK/A at the recent launch of Opening Ceremony in Japan, are really rather beautiful.

Oh Happy Days!

Drooling over these shoes. Just caught these guys (yay local bands) at Baybeats 2009 - a local music festival. Eating this.

Gosh I love the weekend... (pc: imelda)

Kill Me Now: Preen on Further Discount

This is ridiculous:  The Preen convertible I've been considering for a while now is 40% off (US357), but I'm still an excruciating 5 months away from the end of my shoe & bag hiatus.

Someone KILL me.  I think the devil has set his price for my soul...

That or The (Retail) Powers That Be are just having a big kid at my expense *groan*

A Rare Exception: LV

I abhor the rather vulgar, plebeian tendency to purchase LV monogram with the sole intention of ensuring *everyone* knows how much money you have.  It's made me pretty much refrain from opening my purse over anything with "LV" stamped on it.
This however I might make an exception for.  The monogram is practically obscured by the gold leopard print.  An indulgence?  Definitely.  But we all need a bit of that (and animal print) this season, don't we? (tfs)

T.G.I.F. Everyone!

I wish this was my Inbox, my life, my future...

On a considerably less pensive note, my ongoing 'shoe and bag hiatus' means I can't even buy the Gap version of these Pierre Hardys! *sigh*

Bag Lust: Preen Convertible Roxy

Gawd I picked the absolute wrong time to go on a 6mth bag and shoe hiatus cos this Preen Roxy convertible bag is all sorts of amazing!  It transforms from a Marc Jacobs-esque bag-on-bag action (but way classier, no?) to a mini-zippered bag (so FW09) to a woven hobo AND there's a detachable clutch!

The great folks at Standard Deviation are giving 25% off ALL new arrivals (which include this lovely) so it's US$466.25 with the code 'AU25' until 1 September!

Trying SOO hard to resist... Should I cave and start my hiatus next month instead? :)

Man In Suit: Wednesday 19.08.09

It's probably for the better that not all men looked and dressed like Lucas Ossendrijver, designer at Lanvin Homme, else I wouldn't get any work done! Man candy aside, that dreamy floor-to-ceiling shoecase has me written all over it... oh hell, I really just want his entire workspace *sigh*

Kristen Scott Thomas: A Class Act

Can someone explain why Posh Spice and Lily Allen have designer campaigns, but a true British beauty Kristen Scott Thomas is all but overlooked? She just about s.c.r.e.a.m.s Chanel in The NY Times T Style Fall fashion shoot. (tfs)

(Eco)Chic on the Cheap

French style lite! An ingenious way to look tres chic, channel Alexa and be eco-friendly at once. These adorable Baggu bag idea is care of Abbey.

Sienna Je'Taime

It's probably un-PC to like Sienna Miller, but she's just about perfect in Erdem at this Parisian leg of the G.I. Joe promotional tour. These snaps are not in slightest incentivising me to catch the film, but they are making me want to buy Erdem and fly to Paris! (tfs)

Returning In Style : Mad Men

Probably the most sartorially divine show on TV right now, Mad Men returns for its third season tonight. In the meanwhile, I'm going to gaze at Vanity Fair's lush Jon Hamm and January Jones editorial and not to subtly covet every. last. piece. worn by January in the shoot, including that amazing blue dress worn with gauntlets!

Mother/Daughter Tag Team Shopping

How far in advance do you start shopping for an occasion? My mum and I certainly did some longterm retail planning when we chrisened the brand new DVF boutique at ION Orchard (hereafter known as 'The Black Hole Where Money Disappears').

What can I say: there was a sale (40-50% off SS09)... there were bulk discounts... and there's a dearth in our closets for fresh frocks for Chinese New Year/weddings/work in general. I'm completely in love with our loot of two DVF Vintage silk jersey wrap dresses - one long, one short sleeved - plus an gorgeous washed silk tunic dress. The best bit? Mum and I share sizes so it's treble the clothes for me! YAY
For those naysayers who think Ms Furstenberg's wrap dresses are overpriced, the devil really is in the details: the cut is unbelievably flattering (can you say sudden curves?), the prints are timeless and, if you're one to be concerned about these things, they will certainly photograph beautifully.
That said, we noticed the DVF silk jersey dresses which are made in China - clearly marked on the main label - seemed ever so sightly thinner in contrast to the ones made in USA (which don't have any origin printed on the label, above). The Stateside pieces had seemingly sturdier and thicker silk jersey, which whispered greater durability.

Don't want to sound like an 'atas' snob but I'm definitely keeping this QC note in mind for the future. Needless to say, all our scores were strictly born in the USA ;)

Adorable / Sexy

Marisa Tomei has long been on The Man's "freebie 5" list. From the look of this utterly charming lookbook for Scott Sternberg's Boy Band of Outsiders, she's certainly getting better with age! I think she really does embody sweet and sexy in a perfect salted caramel kind of way. As The Man would say: Yum.

Note: I realise this post is completely old stuff but I swear it *was* new before my blogger started malfunctioning :)

Grrr

Pardon the silence but Blogger has been driving me nuts for days!  Can't seem to post images at all - Excuse me while I wail in pain...

Shoe Score: Cream Oxfords (finally)

It pays to wait - The Retail Powers That Be must have heard my angry rant and slapped a very decent 50% discount on these cream napa beauties from (of all places) Giordano Ladies!

Lusciously soft and in full leather for only SGD160 *cheer* My new favourite shoes also cleverly come with two sets of laces - ribbon, or traditional leather string *heart*
Rupert Sanderson Oxfords they are not, but these sure come pretty close... can't wait to procure some black laces so I can do my best Sienna Miller impersonation! (below: in Sydney, with actual Ruperts):

It's On with Alexa Chung : Dress Like Her!

This is a random weekend Alexa Chung post. Now that America have It's On (the new version of TRL), I'm chuffed that I can indulge in daily Alexa fashion watch!  It's not terribly difficult though since her look generally revolves around a couple of key pieces:

Striped anything - everyday is a nautical day

Denim cut-off shorts, DIY if you must

Grey tees - the more vintage, the better

AND of course truckloads of Cardigans in assorted neutral colours
(I absolutely ADORE her latest CDG one!)
