Mulberry Alexa vs PS1

Which one?  Which one?  I sense the beginning of a long soliloquy.

Built By Wendy, Made For ME

This Built By Wendy 99 Red Balloons dress might just be whimsical enough to make up for all those annoying Chinese New Year queries about when I'm going to settle down, why aren't I doctor like my brother, etc... etc...  I also just like saying "99 Red Balloons".  Buy now for later?  Their sample sale is on.

Start Spreading The News: Alaia On Sale!

Someone at The Outnet must be reading my mind - they've got a bumper load (80 styles!!) of Alaia shoes up to 50% off from 9am on 29 September (UK) i.e. 4pm today in Singapore!

I know I need another pair of shoes like I need a heart attack but it's ALAIA... surely St Peter will overlook this indiscretion?  As with all things Outnet, remember:  Fastest Fingers First ;)

Sonia Rykiel for H&M

It's a sad day when you learn about the latest H&M designer collaborations through their Facebook Group's status update rather than the usual internet channels.  Note to self:  Stop checking FB so often!

French fashion firm Sonia Rykiel will roll out pretty priced lingerie in December 2009, followed by knitwear in Spring 2010.  Maybe it's the "post-Jimmy Choo for H&M" effect, but I'm not about to withstand the hordes for lingerie (I wonder if there'll even be any for this collaboration).  That said, with the economy being as bleak as it is, I suppose a cheerfully striped knit top never hurt anyone.

Reliving My Childhood #2

Maybe I've reached a personal limit on studs, rivets and embellishments, but am just not as excited about the Christopher Kane for Topshop as when I first saw it. The collection (due to launch Oct 1 in Singapore) is still lush, but since Kane debuted SS2010, I've found myself daydreaming in gingham, not studs. In particular, I'm fantasizing about a Kane-inspired gingham chiffon cheongsam with sheer panels. Anyone know a brilliant tailor?

Reliving My Childhood #1

My inner geek can hide no longer... this Star Wars (A New Hope) chess set is so awesome that I want to run out and buy buckets of Lego all over again. Maybe, I'll start by raiding my nephew's toy cupboard.

Lanvin Moving Out Sale

Finally got down to checking out the Lanvin "moving out" sale at Wisma Atria. All apparel is 50-70% off with bags, accessories and other items slashed by 50-60%.

The sale started earlier this month so it's slim pickings for the women by now (read: no Happy bags here). That said, the men should rejoice because more than half the store is still filled with suits and shirts. There's a decent selection of the latter going for less than S$200!

My favourite bargain? Replacement leather belt straps for only S$68... I sense a DIY project coming on :)

Introducing: The Alexa Mulberry

The 'Alexa' is my fantasy bag - the Bayswater's nonchalant capacity, with the PS1's edgy buckles and straps.
God I love Mulberry!  Am so adding my name to the waitlist...  I have never been more relieved that SS10 is more than 5 months away. (tfs)

Counting Down to Choo

Is it possible to re-finance my soul so that come November 14, I'm allowed to buy shoes and bags again?  I'm not even a major Jimmy Choo fan but the prospect of these at H&M prices are like the siren's call; not least because lots of them are nearly identical to styles from this year's collections!  Oooh I love an authorized knock-off :)

(1) Pre-Fall 09 Blaze heels vs. Choo for H&M (with blue label)

(2) SS09's multi-strap snakeskin heels vs. Choo for H&M in patent

(3) AW09 zebra striped flats vs. Choo for H&M

(3) Suede and leather strapped boots from AW09 vs. Choo for H&M in grey suede

Other delicious pieces I have my eye on:

The Devil Wears Skovgaard

It's official: I've sold my soul for shoes.

Since purchasing the "offending" Camilla Skovgaard platform wedges, I must confess that they've been glued to my feet. They're fierce, platformed, make me *almost* tall and feel like Nikes... I even ran for the bus in them on Friday! I think I'm in love; this must be what sympathy for the devil feels like :)

Just a thought: I'm mentally prepared to replace the platform's fierce "teeth" with some thick tyre-ridged rubber soles when they start to wear down, but what of the styles which have a regular stiletto (see below)?
I might go mad trying to get the thickness of any replacement soles to perfectly match the height of the heel. Maybe Skovgaard will thoughtfully introduce mail order replacement "teeth"?

Lots of outfit pics to follow but in the meanwhile, sell your soul with the aid of VISA and Net-a-Porter or Shopbop.

Penance for this bad (but feels SO good) buy? A 6-month shoe & bag ban.

Want: 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2010 RTW

Spotted:  Phillip Lim in NYC stealing my heart all over again.   I want this ENTIRE collection!  Bags, necklaces, shoes, clothes et al.   Sadly, my wallet (ever the tease) will certainly only allow me a necklace or bag out of sheer pity.

I *heart* Topshop ION

Yes, I went a bit crazy in the dressing room... (these exclude the uglies)
