Christmas Wish List #1

I cannot possibly justify 65quid finger puppets - even if they do include one of the Kaiser himself.  So, onto the Christmas wish list it goes :)

Incidentally, Rubbish would make an absolute killing if they were ever to do a Vogue version!  Anna, Grace, Andre (who's already in the NYC edition), Carine and Alexandra, anyone?

Spotted: Carrie Underwood wears Carol-Hannah?

I certainly hope so! [the full performance here].  Really, I'm just looking for another reason to hate Mean-a Irina :)

White Flag

My shoe/bag ban is over.  I gave into temptation.  Confessions to come.

Anyone else have The Beautiful South in their head right now?
Can't wait for someone to do that sweater! (pc: insideout)

Stella McCartney x GapKids: You Snooze, You Lose

By the grace of enthusiastic SAs and an uncollected reservation (thank you Miss Anonymous Slacker), I have gleefully secured The Last (much coveted) size XXL military jacket from the Stella McCartney for GapKids collection!  All hail Grazia (for their hilarious investigative journalism) and The Retail Powers That Be!!

For those who might still want to have a go, the collaborative range is only available at their Wisma Atria and Vivocity outlets.  I was tempted by the luxuriously soft grey cashmere blend leggings but decided against them on account of my permanent residence.

FYI: Military jackets are still available in XL (which is very snug on a US2/4 frame and allows no arm fat whatsoever); the grey cashmere hoodie is only available in S (there is a final L on reservation at Vivocity, so you could try your luck there); the bobble rose-blush jumper is SO Stella but is way too small in M, the largest available size; there's one XL trench which will fit a US2/4, and there are lots of XL  (but only one XXL) cashmere dresses. [as of 7.30pm at the Wisma outlet]

Valentino: A Cinderalla Moment

Valentino is closing their Palais Renaissance store and moving to ION.  An unbelievable STOREWIDE 70% OFF means this wonderous pair could be mine... if only I had larger feet!  Size 37.5 for anyone who cares for a go.  Another bow-adorned satin strappy in the same Valentino red is still looking for a home (size 38.5).

After ST Urban's mention in yesterday's papers, the store was obliterated and they are down to, literally, 2 bags, maybe 10 pairs of shoes and some clothes so get a move on!

Heil Kaiser Karl

I'm a bit of a leather belt whore.

When The Outnet listed a bunch from K by Karl Lagerfeld, my defences were breached.  I'm trying to console myself about the fact that they're both classics:  a black, quilted and statement-making (so rock-Chanel and which I cannot wait to spruce up my work wardrobe with), and a wonderfully versatile white one with K-perforations.

Two closer to that ultimate belt collection!  *glee*

I Am Not An Overpriced EcoTote

Good ole Marks & Spencer knows how to push eco-chic to the masses.   I spotted these lovely, oversized, organic ecru cotton totes printed in collaboration with fashion illustrator David Downton (yes, he of those AMAZING Cate Blanchett Aussie Vogue covers).

Featuring M&S models Twiggy (my fave of the lot), Erin O'Connor, Lily Cole and Noemie Lenoir, they retail for only S$10 with 100% of the proceeds going to charity!  Despite their fashion potential and competitive pricing, the totes were inexplicably shoved in the corner of the Wheelock Place store and on a rack facing the cashier.  Their merchandiser should get a lump of coal in their Christmas stocking.

I played British SATC and bought one of my favourite "girl", but at those prices why not cave and get the whole set since it's for a good cause?  After all, it's Christmas :)

Stella McCartney x GAP Kids

Sigh one of the oldest secrets in the student shopping handbook is out; now everyone will be wearing Gap Kids to save cash.  Check out Grazia's totally fun version of investigative journalism - I want her job!!

Club 21 Collectibles: Never Say Never

I'm 5 feet 1 on a good day with absolutely no arse to speak of.  Consequently, I have no willpower whatsoever when it comes to trousers which fit without copious amounts of alterations, and which miraculously don't make me look short.

Enter my new Acne Zulu wool trousers.  Even cheaper than Acne's own Outlet store, it's a real score from Club 21's Collectibles 'pop up' store at Forum The Shopping Mall (until 18 November 2009).  Diesel Black, Opening Soon, Mulberry and Cacharel x Liberty are also available.

Close Encounters Of The Burberry Kind

Psst... Don't tell HRH Christopher Bailey but his staffers are actually wearing Rupert Sanderson!

[Scene: Earlier at ION Orchard, Singapore] A slim, effortlessly chic lady boards the escalator ahead of me. Close-cropped brunette pixie hair. She adjusts her Burberry wraparound-studded watch and I glance to check her shoes (an annoying habit that I have). Lo and behold, finishing her all-black ensemble is a pair of black satin Rupert Sanderson Margaretha pumps! I'd know those cut-out details anywhere.

I decide to shamelessly enquire if they're Rupert Sanderson. She's pleasantly surprised: 'How did you know?!' I gesture meekly at my slightly battered, but thankfully recently buffed, patent pumps from the same eponymous label. She chuckles, amused maybe.
'My feet were killing me so I wore these... though I really should be wearing Burberry... I'm with Burberry (you see). Are YOU wearing Burberry this evening?'
'Sadly, not tonight.'
'Oh really? Your necklace is very Burberry.'
She fingers my black slashed leather necklace, apraising the cluster of fringed blooms like a seasoned merchandiser.
I sputter: 'It's Alldressedup and the store's upstairs. Anyway, I'm not invited.'
'What a pity... ah well.'
And with a grin, she rejoins HRH's court.

I might not have had the privilege of attending Burberry ION this evening, but for the smallest of moments, I felt like I did.

Burberry ION: Sightings

Singapore model Celia Teh

Random shoes! I likey.

Singapore model Junita Simon - she of charmed ability to wear a trench as a dress and NOT look like a flasher.
